For those who’ve been using/developing WordPress sites for a while now, you probably have become quite reliant on knowing the actual id number of posts and pages, as well as categories, especially for customizing navigation, as well as creating category specific templates. You probably have also been equally frustrated at them being removed from the admin in 2.5+, I know I have. Well, leave it to the community to solve a problem. Nick Ohrn has cooked up a nice little plugin that replaces these ids, without seemingly compromising the layout of the page one bit. Certainly a worthy plugin for your dev toolbox. Once a site is developed, you could easily turn it off if you are concerned about confusing users, and then activate it as needed for follow up work. However, it certainly is much easier than mousing over each page and writing down the ID, especially on page heavy sites.

Post Avatar
For those of you who have visited recently, and seen the the new (almost finished) design here at WP Station, you may have noticed the images for each post. This has been achieved using the Post Avatar plugin, which was recently updated. I haven’t tested the current version, but know I will upgrade to see what’s new under the hood. I’ve seen this requested numerous times in the forums, and this was the easiest way of achieving the desired effect.
WP-Last.fm
For those who regularly use last.fm, this plugin will take the most recent track and add it as a custom field for a post, to give readers an idea of what you were listening to when writing. Definitely a different approach than many of the last.fm plugins I’ve seen. Worth checking out if your music and blogging go hand in hand.
Ajax Spoiler Plugin
082Net
Based on a previously available plugin, this update add some AJAXy goodness by giving the user multiple options for hiding and displaying the “spoiler” in a post. Examples of display options with easy to follow instructions available on the author’s site.
Clutter Free
While on the subject of Mark, and now that 2.0.5 is officially out, I felt it would be more appropriate to mention this plugin now. Many users do not have a need for all the boxes on the write post screen, and would like them gone. Now you can do that, on an individual user basis. The editing is done via your profile page, so if you ever need to turn back on an element, it’s simply done in the admin area. Note that a v.3 is the most current, which now removes the preview and image uploader elements, rather than hide them via CSS, as previous versions did.
You can be sure I’ll be using this plugin on my own blogs, particularly to do away with the image uploader element, as that element does hide like others.
My Post Icons
A new plugin that allows for unique icons for each post. Plugin also allows for resizing of the icon with aspect ratio intact.
Coding Images in Posts
Andy Skeleton
Andy has posted a short tutorial for theme creators on effectively coding images in posts so not to break the design in IE 6, something often over looked in theme development (myself included).
For those not in the know, Andy is one of the brilliant minds behind the new Sandbox theme, and has incorporated many forward thinking ideas into it, this being just one of many.
WP-Members
I haven’t tested this plugin myself, but considering it’s at 1.6, it seems the development is quite strong, and should produce exactly what it claims. Basically it’s a plugin that allows for the seperation of the users from “members”, and then restricts the blogs content to only those registered members, including feeds. Which in essesence could transform your WP blog into a paid subscription service. I’d be interested to see some examples of sites using the plugin.
Post Levels Plugin
fortes.com
Has released the WP 2.0 version of his post level plugin that prevents users below a certain role from viewing posts.
Page Read Counter 2.0
Hakan Demiray
Updated the plugin to 2.0, many new updates and options to display how many times a post’s been read.
