Expand Comments Plugin
nymb.usThis recently updated plugin is intended to allow your visitor the option of clicking a link, and using AJAX, expand and show all the comments for a post directly on the main page. Instructions require a file outside the plugins folder, so make note of any file that a plugin requires outside the wp-content, otherwise, when upgrading, you may delete the file and break the plugin. Overall, sounds like it could be a handy plugin to keep the main page tidy.

Support Bad Behavior nOW!
Living in a world of open source/freeware, we sometimes take for granted the luxuries the offerings our fellow internet using/geek-ish/über-intelligent community gives us. Free blog platform, free support, free themes, free plugins, free ftp clients, free text-editors, you get the point.
Well, one of, if not the greatest blight on the internet is SPAM. And as a multi-blogger, with a 400 or so unique IP’s between the various blogs, I can attest, blog spam can suck. Thus the need for options like Bad Behaviour. You guessed it, a freeplugin. This blogger uses it in conjunction with Spam Karma 2, and gets no comment spam, at any site.
All that said, Bad Behaviour needs to continue to stay in development. And it’s developer has suffered a hardware setback (laptop died). So pop over and donate what you can to support development, and keep in mind, freeware doesn’t mean it can’t be supported financially. Think of it as tipping.
Oh, and if you blog at the WSJ and are reading this, I certainly hope you donated…

GravWall
Thought Mechanics
From the creator of Squible, and many other WP themes, comes this über cool mod, GravWall. Basically it takes gravatars from commentors on your site, and creates a “tag cloud” of sorts out of the images. Think a cross between tag cloud and flickr badge. Not a plugin per se, but installation seems straight forward.
Zap_Recent_Commented
Zappelfillip plaudert…
At first read, it sounds like a plugin to eliminate comments, but actually zap is the unique tag indentifier for the plugin, I’m assuming do the author’s name or site (it’s in German). The function of the plugin is actually to list just posts titles of recently commented on posts. Though the site is in German, the author has added a “view in English” link to instantly translate the page. Just another expample of the growing plugin database to further customize your site.
