Guardian Unlimited - The new 100 most useful sites
From their Blogs: Writing section:
The open-source and free software project Wordpress has risen to prominence, elbowing aside many rivals with its blog creation, management and (importantly) spam-beating tools….Blogger is the best of the rest…
A nice little nod from a not so small source. Congrats to those that have pushed WP to the forefront.

Full Disclosure: This is a sponsored post
With out a doubt, the next few days the blogosphere will be awash in similar posts as this, as the creators of Text Link Ads have announced a new service, ReviewMe. Basically it’s another advertising system, in which those wanting to advertise can search out blogs to have them “review” their product or service. Primarily done via tag searches, you can then choose the site(s) you want to advertise on based on the amount of traffic the site gets. Blogorimba
Not a WP specific site, but came across this after seeing a link on Sean Inman’s feed. A site offering T-shirts for bloggers, including a play on the Harley Davidson logo.

Mac’s Journal
A very comprehensive review of a free blogging client, Qumana. I haven’t had a chance to look at the app myself, but I did see it’s available for both Mac and Windows platform. Mac’s review makes it sound as if this is a really handy desktop blogging client, and Quamana offers several other services for bloggers, so it may be a worthwhile app. I’d love to hear from anyone else who’s tried it out.

The buzz is that the developers of WordPress have released a new version. Which is slightly a misnomer. A Public BETA has been released, version 1, which means there will probably be at least a second version of the beta before the feel enough bugs are out to call it a final release. Which ultimately means, THIS IS NOT A READY FOR PRIME TIME RELEASE If you’ve got a test install, or a little blog you rarely post to, then sure run it through its motions, report any bugs, get familiar with it. But don’t use it for your everyday, bread and butter blog. And regardless of where you install it, you may want to follow general upgrade/install rules, backup your data, including database, and any relavent themes and related files. There’s been a few broken plugins reported, mostly those that deal with user level, as that’s something that’s been revamped. Also know, very little has changed to the user, 95% is under the hood. The write post interface has changed, most notably you can add categories on the fly. Otherwise, most users will see differences when new and more expanding themes and plugins come down the pipe. But remember, for now, it’s ß
