Thought Mechanics
From the creator of Squible and many of the quality themes that were available when I first started using WP (minimaplus was my first theme to tear apart), comes Balance, a narrow single column theme (sort of) that uses a lot of plugins and some nifty AJAX to hide older posts. Support for flickr, tags, asides, and more.

Foliage Mod
A great new theme released to the community. Not highly customizable, but nice use of AJAX. If you are looking for a darker, modern design with support for several plugins built in, this could well be for you.
Movable Anything
A plugin to AJAX-ify any element on your blog and allow a visitor to drag and drop that element. Not sure of practicality, but in the trend to make things oh so web 2.0, this is just another tool for WP users to employ. And kudos to the author for getting the spirit of the community and sharing another of his creations.
Expand Comments Plugin
nymb.usThis recently updated plugin is intended to allow your visitor the option of clicking a link, and using AJAX, expand and show all the comments for a post directly on the main page. Instructions require a file outside the plugins folder, so make note of any file that a plugin requires outside the wp-content, otherwise, when upgrading, you may delete the file and break the plugin. Overall, sounds like it could be a handy plugin to keep the main page tidy.
Fade Anything Technique Extended Edition 2.0
As more and more designs incorporate AJAX techniques, here’s a plugin that allows for easy incorporation of the Fade Anything Technique. Some examples reside in the javascript file included in the dowload, however, nothing specific as far as elements. Still a great start, and with some creativity, can bring some uniqueness to any site.
AJAX Calendar
UrbanGiraffe
Recently released, and even more recently updated an AJAX Powered Calendar, one feature that looks handy is the abiity to add a drop down list of post titles in each month. If the plugin is even half as well constructed as the Theme Dissection articles, it should be a winner!
BLOXPRESS DEMO
BLOXPRESS DEMO
Not so much as a theme, as an entirely new way of presenting your blog, this theme concept puts the user in control of what and where the content displays. With Ajax powered drag and drop usability, any user can simply move and add what they are visiting your site for. Quite a novel approach, will be interesting to see how it’s pulled apart and used in other ways. Download should be available soon.
