I had been trying to install wordpress on Windows Vista for the past 48 hours straight with no luck. It installed fine on XP, but in Vista it would hang on the second step of the install. After hours of searching for a solution and coming up empty and about to chuck Vista all together, I found your solution. I was up and running within a few minutes.
