Rhymed Code
If you have ever wondered what custom fields were all about, let me tell you, they are an unsung gem of WordPress. You can do some amazing things using this, and a lot of plugins do this under the hood. This plugin allows you to add custom fields that you define with standard form types, ie, radio, textfield, etc. This gives you a much better interface for adding custom content to your posts, outside the standard posting box. A very, very smart plugin. If I had a rating system, it would be at the top of the range.
Quix0r
I had been meaning to mention this plugin for some time, and actually thought I had, until Quix0r stopped by, and mentioned it. I then realized I never actually got around to blogging it.
I personally have been blessed by the combination of Spam Karma2 and Bad Behavior (maybe it’s due to the fact that I have donated to the authors, hint, hint) but anyway, many people still run into issues with spam, and this one seems like a good addition to the arsenal. I’ll leave the technical explanation to the author, but my basic understanding is it “hides” the name of the file that most spammers attack, so basically they are missing the target. Sounds good, and appears to be successful for those that need it. Worth checking out if you are still having issues with spam.
Solo Technology
I missed the first release, but just in time to announce new support for a second related posts plugin, this one from Wasabi. Basically, this ingenious plugin takes data from either the wasabi related posts plugin, or as originally intended, Ultimate Tag Warrior’s related posts, and adds them to your feed.
Really a brilliant way to attract readers, as though someone may have recently discovered your site, they may not have read older posts. This is a way to introduce them to your older content. Also, helps people see what other types of information you might have on your site.
I haven’t tested it yet, and can’t with this site, as I made a fateful decision to use certain tags that throw off related posts (UTW doesn’t have a means to exclude a tag from the relationship), however, I trust that it does exactly what it says.

From the author, “Using this Wordpress plugin you can add Google AJAX Search to your site. Included by default is a Blog Search, Web Search and a secondary site search ideally for your flickr or other photostream. Support the plugin by testing it out and giving feedback to make it better. Widgetized and ready to drop in.”.
It looks like a new breed of spambots is upon us, and the popular spam filtering tools such as Akismet do a pretty good job (over 3000 caught spam in the last few days over on my site!). However, in the last 48 hours I’ve had a rash of about 40 identical spam posts across my Wordpress blog, and I decided to do something about it.
I figured it would be easy enough to code, since this particular spam had an inconspicuous “Great site!” Comment text, with a viagra URL hidden in the username field, of all places.
Instead of competing with Akismet, I worked with it - in fact, my plugin (No HTTP Authors) simply flags comments as “spam” and lets the other plugins deal with it. This keeps your blog running quickly and reduces conflicts.
Weasel’s No HTTP Authors Plugin even has some well-commented, tiny source code, so if you want to add your own specific filter it isn’t too much of a stretch. Future versions might even have an automated admin panel, but right now it runs out-of-the-box and works great against this particular bot attack.
Easily display a tag cloud of all your post categories in your sidebar. This plugin uses the WordPress Widgets sidebar. The plugin utilizes the category slugs you define as links and shows the amount of posts with that category tag as a measure of font size. Quick and easy install!
iMP Links is a wordpress plugin that displayed your link collection from in two columns without table. Using unordered list with CSS styling. In the top of link collection there is a category jumper to make your collection is easy to find. You can also exlude many category if you want. Manage all your links via wordpress admin panel at link manager (blogroll in wordpress 2.1) section.
Been on quite the hiatus, however, what better way to get things rolling again than to link to a wonderful list of some of the better, and lesser known WP themes out there. Some have been featured here before, some are new to me. I’m especially fond of Dean Robinsons, Redoable. I must have missed that release with the holidays, and my WP sabbatical.
