Andy Skeleton
Andy has posted a short tutorial for theme creators on effectively coding images in posts so not to break the design in IE 6, something often over looked in theme development (myself included).
For those not in the know, Andy is one of the brilliant minds behind the new Sandbox theme, and has incorporated many forward thinking ideas into it, this being just one of many.

D-Tabs Plugin
dtcnet.co.uk
An update to this plugin has been released. The plugin allows for automatic dynamic tabs for your WP theme.
The new release adds new admin panels for the tabs, as well as more CSS options for the look of the tabs.
Database Back-up Plugin Security Issue
Skippy reported in the WP forums that a security vulnerabilty had been found in the database back-up plugin. Subsequently, in the same thread, he posted back with a fix that had been “cooked up” by Ryan. At root the plugin could exploit a “directory traversal vulnerability”, if done by someone with admin privileges. Which, no one should be giving admin privileges to someone they don’t trust.
That said, an updated version can be downloaded here.
Kudos to Skippy for bringing this public as soon as he was aware, and kudos to the team for getting a quick fix to a popular plugin that’s bundled with the download.
Though many are capable of doing manual backups, the automatic backup is a handy feature, and one that can easily save some headache and time for those that have multiple blogs, or are just plain lazy like this blogger.
Jerome’s Keywords 2.0 Beta
Long on the WP scene has been Jerome’s keywords, a post tagging plugin. While a lot of users have adopted Ultimate Tag Warrior (myself included), this plugin continues in development, and is now at 2.0, in a beta release. I may install on a test blog to see the differences, and see where development stands. Perhaps that would make for a good post, to compare to the two plugins. The real question would be if Keywords would be able to “import” the tags from UTW, and vice versa. I know UTW has a convert option, but you need to know the custom field in order to do so. If anyone has experience with both, I’d love to hear some feed back in the comments, (not to mention, save me from duplicating the info).

Lots of Updates at HeadZoo
Sean has updated several of his popular plugins over at HeadZoo, including a-links and flickr spinner. Check ‘em out.
K2 0.9 Release at K2
Released as a stable version, the ever popular K2 theme, successor to the legendary Kubrick, is now out. Not neccessarily the theme for beginners to dig into the code on, it does support custom style sheets, to allow for users to customize the look. Dig around the site for more info on the history and development of this ground breaking theme.
Subscribe2 Changes Hands
Skippy has stopped development of his Subscribe2 plugin, and passed the torch to Matt at Prescribing Advice. Matt is actively developing the plugin, with a recent release that added user option to define Reminder Email, improved array handling, improves Web Standards Compliance in the Subscribe2 pages.
For those not familiar with Subscribe2, it basically allows those not yet tech savy enough to use RSS to subscribe to your blog via email.
State of the Word, by Matt Mullenweg
I haven’t blogged about WordCamp, as it seems it’s gotten quite a bit of coverage already, and since I was in such envy for not being there, I figured not blogging about it meant denial, and denial meant I didn’t really miss it. Ah the issues of cross country travel and finances…if only I had a larger adsense income ![]()
Anyway, Mark Jaquith has posted an audio file of WP founder Matt Mullenweg’s State of WordPress “speech”, and thought some might find it interesting. Check CJ’s comment about it being on google video as well. I really hope to get there next year, and am looking forward to attending a blog camp here in FL in September. If anyone has an extra WP t-shirt to send me so I can represent, I’ll cover shipping.
Ultimate Tag Warrior 3
A new version has been released to address a bug concerning database issues. Kudos to Christine for quickly addressing the issue. For those not familiar with UTW, it’s a plugin tagging plugin that’s quite configurable in how the tags are presented and displayed, including tag clouds and AJAX search page.
