WordPress 2.0.4 Upgrade: changed files

Mark on WordPress » WordPress 2.0.4 Upgrade: changed files ZIP, changes diff, changed files list

Most know by now that WordPress has been upgraded to 2.0.4 for security/bug fixes. Mark Jaquith has taken the time to offer up just the changed files and a diff for those doing mulitiple upgrades via FTP, so the entire script doesn’t need to be upgraded and overwritten. A really nice gesture on his part to be sure.
It’s highly recommended that all users upgrade to this version.

AjaxWP

Gianni Milanesi’s Weblog
As more and more bloggers look at ways of turning their site more “web 2.0″, more and more plugins of this nature will surface. From the author, here’s how the plugin works

The script operates transparently by parsing the (X)HTML of the blog, and adding onclick event handlers to all links that point to internal blog pages. When a user clicks on a link AjaxWp traps the event and, instead of letting the browser navigate to the target page, requests the target page with AJAX.

.
The author’s site employs the plugin, so you can see it in action yourself. One thing I noticed is how it handles the permalink for posts and pages after using the effect. Otherwise, it is a very nifty use of the scripting, and if it could be harnessed to be easily incorporated in specific ways versus ALL internal links, it might be have a broader use. All in all though, a nice addition to the AJAX library of WP plugins.

Bluemonnlight2.0

Dandyland dot org

A nice, two column theme, with a left hand sidebar has been released. Based on an open source design, this version sports a striking blue gradient in the header, with a nice contrasting blue for headers and links to the the black background. A very straight forward design, it seems to lend itself to customization and further development. Definitely a great starting point for those looking to adopt a new look.

ChessNotator

Timblog

Though a niche plugin, I find it great anytime to see something written for WP that expands the world of blogging, especially on WP.
This plugin is for chess bloggers to allow the inclusion of a game notation file to be embedded into a post inside quicktags. The developer seems open to expanding on this plugin, so for any chess bloggers, this plugin is definitely worth checking out and keeping an eye on.

Bad Behavior 2

Lunacy Unleashed

Since noting that the stats plugin has been updated, it’s worth noting that Bad Behavior 2.0 was released as a final release while I was off line. Coupled with Spam Karma, this plugin has helped me avoid any of the troubles I’ve read others having with spam over the last few months.
Perhaps my karma was especially helped because I made a contribution to the development of both spam fighting plugins, and I suggest you do the same.

Bad Behavior is now at 2.0.3.
