Dagon Design
This just might prove to be a popular plugin, as it will pull the latest post from each category. So for those who don’t want a chronological listing on the home page, they can list by freshest posts in categories. You can also use a template tag to call the list for a sidebar listing, as well as use it on a page.

Yongfook.com – The Japanese Food and Tech Blog
A quick and clean way to include a google map on a WordPress page. I’ve personally included a google map before, this looks like a much easier, and cleaner way for those not really a “coder”. Might even convert the once I hand coded to the plugin. Many nifty features of the google map built into the plugin, including thumbnails in the bubble.

Gazette Theme
Not for those who like an uncluttered, clean look, but nonetheless, there’s potentially some uses for this theme. The developer is open to ideas to improve the design, so if you’ve been looking for ways to increase content on your home page, this might be a way.

Journalese
Have a lot of comments on your blog, where discussions tend to be responses to previous commenters? If so, this plugin may help organize the comments a little better by allow for visitors to choose which comment they are replying to, as well as quote a comment.
Looking outside the box, I see a plugin of this nature being a building block for using WP as a forum. If You allow registered users a certain level to start posts, and require registration to comment, each post is the start of a thread, maybe you see where I’m going with this.
Anyway, I can see this being a very handy tool for high traffic, high comment sites.

38one Denis Radenkovic’s Portfolio
Just came across these mock-ups for possible WP logos. I’m guessing the current W logo was from a different designer, but these freely available designs offer a much different perspective on WP.

Development Blog › WordPress Now Available
Three years ago today, WordPress was officially released. I wasn’t around then ,but I’m sure it’s come a long way from those days, with a bright future ahead. Everyone who’s had a hand in its development, be it coding, documentation, or volunteering in the forums should be quite proud of the community it has fostered.

noscope
This theme was originally released sometime ago, and I lost touch with it’s development. It’s now at beta 5, with what appears to be many changes. One I noticed right away was a smaller header graphic. It’s been about a month since this release, but I think the theme is such a promising part of the community, I wanted to point out it’s still being developed, and worth a look if you haven’t checked it out in a while.

Blokura
A recent plugin addition to the community, this plugin, by default shows the 5 latest comments, with a gravatar of the commenter. I haven’t tested yet to see if you can show an excerpt of the comment, or it shows the whole thing. Interesting addition of adding the gravatar nonetheless.

Talk XHTML.com
A narrow, two column design, with, you guessed it, a nice Photoshopped header of leaves and grass with flower accents. Bright red is the predominant color, including the header, but it contrasts nicely with the white and blue-ish black of the background. I’m not a fan of the left alignment, as larger screen resolutions don’t center. Not a lot of fancy styling, but there’s plenty of room for customization. An interesting choice to detach the right handed side bar from the content. This theme was also just added to the choices over at wordpress.com
