Before you get excited, this isn’t a theme feature Gene, Paul, Ace, and Peter, rather a theme with the concept of keeping it simple. A two column theme design for both WP and Movable Type, this theme features a right hand side bar and lots of white space. Subtle hints of “web 2.0″, however this is, as the name implies, a minimalistic theme.

Countdown Until Plugin
Owen has updated a plugin of his that allows for a countdown until a specific date in your sidebar (or where ever you’d like the info). Very versatile in the manner you set the date for countdown, and you can set reoccuring events.
Installer, the Plugin
I haven’t tested this out yet, but looks promising, to say the least, especially as new developers package their releases to work with it. Seems basically an installer script and update notifier for themes and plugins. Matt’s releases have always been top-notch, so I trust this will be more of the same.
Sirius Theme
A new theme set with a heavy dose of admin panel control over the theme. Which means a user can customize the look and feel of the theme without having to get “under the hood”. Multiple color schemes, as well as user defined colors for things like links, as well as control over what appears in the sidebar, as well as several built in plugins. Quite the ambitious project, with more to come from the designer.
WP Plugin: Def-Link
This handy plugin provides an admin interface to define commonly used words as either definitions or links. The definition then allows the user to hover over the word to see the definition. Link, well, that’s obvious. Only downfall is plugin requires a file in wp-admin, which can be easily forgotten when upgrading, thus breaking a blog.
Image Replacement WordPress Plugin
Building on the Cold Forged’s Image Headline plugin, this plugin allows a tag to be marked for replacement, including tags specific to classes, thus not requiring the theme to be edited. All this is done through an options pane in admin panel. A nifty way to incorporate fonts that otherwise your viewer may not have, and well worth the look.
Theme A Day
Phu Ly has opted in the tradition of Coffee2Code, (though themes vs plugins) to release a theme a day for a week. It’s currently hump day, with the 3rd theme being released, a single column one, something designs have been moving away from, but can still have a place in the blog world. So head over and check out the first few, and we anxiously await the remainder.
