WP 2.0 BETA

The buzz is that the developers of WordPress have released a new version. Which is slightly a misnomer. A Public BETA has been released, version 1, which means there will probably be at least a second version of the beta before the feel enough bugs are out to call it a final release. Which ultimately means, THIS IS NOT A READY FOR PRIME TIME RELEASE If you’ve got a test install, or a little blog you rarely post to, then sure run it through its motions, report any bugs, get familiar with it. But don’t use it for your everyday, bread and butter blog. And regardless of where you install it, you may want to follow general upgrade/install rules, backup your data, including database, and any relavent themes and related files. There’s been a few broken plugins reported, mostly those that deal with user level, as that’s something that’s been revamped. Also know, very little has changed to the user, 95% is under the hood. The write post interface has changed, most notably you can add categories on the fly. Otherwise, most users will see differences when new and more expanding themes and plugins come down the pipe.
